This garment doesn't need frequent washing; wearing it around 8-10 times helps it adapt to your body shape. Alpaca fiber, known for its odor resistance and low bacterial retention, can be refreshed by simply hanging after wear. To safeguard against moth damage, store the garment as you would wool. When laundering is necessary, utilize a cold water, light cycle with a small to medium load, avoiding heavy fabrics such as jeans. While regular detergent is suitable, harsh chemicals such as bleach, Peroxide bleaches, or “Oxygen Cleaners” should be avoided. For drying, turn the garment inside out to preserve its outer surface, then tumble dry on low heat with similar items for 10-15 minutes. If the garment feels flat or stiff, utilize the dryer's fluff cycle with wool dryer balls for 15-20 minutes. In situations where regular detergent isn't available, rinsing with stream water or using a small amount of shampoo or mild liquid detergent in a sink followed by air drying is recommended.

During the initial 3-5 washes, opt for air drying by hanging or laying flat to allow the garment to dry naturally. As alpaca fiber retains minimal moisture after the spin cycle, drying is quick. Subsequently, after the initial 3-5 washes, tumble drying on low heat with similar items for approximately 10-12 minutes is permissible, though medium to high heat is discouraged to prevent damage. Expect a slight shrinkage in length after these initial washes, which has been accounted for in our garment patterns. Additionally, you may notice a fine "nap" on the fabric post-wash, contributing to enhanced comfort and performance of the garment.
